Monica McElyea was born and raised in Pennington Gap, Virginia, until she moved to Georgia to attend law school. After practicing law for five years in Virginia, she and her husband moved to Summit County, Colorado in 1997, where they have remained ever since. She has practiced law with David Helmer since that time.
