Car crashes are rarely accidents. While few are intentional, there is almost always some element of driver error behind any crash.

While every driver will make mistakes from time to time, some of the most dangerous ones are easily avoidable.

The fatal 4 of driving

Whenever you set out in your vehicle, make sure you do not commit these elementary errors:

  1. Impaired driving: While there are rare occasions of people who do not realize they have consumed drugs or alcohol, most impaired drivers know exactly what they are doing. There is no excuse for failing to realize or accept how dangerous it is to then take the wheel.
  2. Distraction: There is so much going on in our lives that it can be challenging to keep your eyes and mind focused fully on the road. Yet, anyone that drives needs to do so or accept the consequences when a crash occurs because they did not.
  3. Speeding: It is possible to press your foot down on the pedal a little too hard or not to see a sign indicating the start of a lower speed zone. It is still illegal to be above the limit. Most speeding, however,  is a conscious choice to ignore the rules.
  4. Driving when tired: Most drivers will have driven when feeling weary at some point during their life. It does not excuse it. Fatigued driving can be as dangerous as drunk driving.
